Are You Charging Enough? Don’t Discount Yourself Into a Hole

The temptation is to discount your services to attract new business, and this can make sense, particularly if you are starting out or if you’ve just moved to a new area, but you should do this cautiously.
One risk is that you’ll only get customers shopping for discounts. They will never be clients, in that very important meaning of the word, returning to you again and again because they want your talent and service. These people always shop for discounts. There is nothing wrong with that but, as soon as your discount ends, they go find another discount somewhere else. You know who they are. So, what have you achieved?
